We're excited to announce the latest release of QuickMap, packed with new features designed to provide a richer experience while exploring planetary data. This update is now available across all our QuickMaps: LROC QuickMap, Mercury QuickMap, and Mars QuickMap. Let's dive into what's new!
One of our most exciting additions is the ability to draw geodesic circles directly on the map. This feature allows you to accurately represent circles adhering to the planet's curvature. It's an invaluable tool for geographic planning, distance measuring, and visualizing coverage on the surface.
Our new release brings a game-changing feature for users working with numeric layers in 2D projections. The client now has access to raw numeric data, allowing for more reactive and fluid visualizations directly in your browser. This enhancement ensures you get the most precise values when hovering over data with your cursor, providing a richer and more accurate analysis of the map.
The new timeline view enables you to smoothly swipe between various time points, offering a more user-friendly and efficient way to explore temporal data on the map.
Our 3D view now displays the positions of the Earth and Sun at any given time. This feature adds an extra layer of realism and context to your 3D exploration, allowing you to visualize the relationship between celestial bodies in real-time.
We've taken our 3D viewer to new heights with the introduction of a "polar optimized" mode for high-latitude views. When exploring the poles in 3D, our application now loads imagery specifically tailored to these regions, providing you with a crystal-clear view of the polar landscapes.
To further enhance your 3D exploration experience, we've also added the display of additional values related to your current view. Now, you can easily see "Height," "Distance to Cursor," "Resolution," and "Camera Position" values, helping you better understand your location and what you're looking at in the 3D space.
In addition to the various functionality enhancements, all the maps have received significant data updates. Go to any one of our QuickMaps Layers Panel and filter by "N23" to see all new layers added this year, or "U23" to see all updated layers. Some quick links are included below:
LROC QuickMap: 22 New Layers and 5 Updated Layers
Mercury QuickMap: 15 New Layers and 7 Updated Layers
Mars QuickMap: 1 New Layer and 16 Updated Layers
These new features are just the tip of the iceberg for what's to come, and we can't wait for you to experience them firsthand. Our team has worked tirelessly to bring these enhancements to life, ensuring that QuickMap continues to be your go-to tool for exploring and analyzing maps in a whole new way.
